Joanne's Story
I live in the quirky, artsy village of Sea Cliff with my children Lauren and Michael, and my husband Mike. I teach elementary art right here in the North Shore School District....an easy commute! Although I never would have thought that teaching was my calling, I have been at it for 24 years now and still love, love, love it! I've taught in the classroom in a variety of alternative models and then switched to the art studio about 6 years ago, when the State testing began to inhibit my creativity.

ional educational pieces. I love to "have written" when all is said and done, but I find the act of writing can be painstaking and grueling.
My own kids are great...very free-spirited and joyful. (Well, most of the time, as they are teenagers!) Mike, my husband of almost 25 years now, is an editor at the New York Post. (He is not from New Hyde Park, but a Catholic School boy from Archbishop Molloy High School.)
Although I just celebrated my 48th birthday, I am happy to say that I can still; twirl a baton, play the drums and dance in high heels. Really!!
