Joanne's Story
Born and raised in Scranton, Pa. Parents Joseph and Mary Yakamavich. Graduate of St Joseph's Lithuanian Elementary School, Class of 1962, Scranton Central High School, Class of 1966, and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1969. Served In the U.S. Air Force (Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, Ga.) as a nurse commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. Promoted to 1st Lt. (1970-72). Met my husband, Bill, through the Catholic Young Adults Club of Northern Virginia in June 74 and married December 74. Mo, which I truely loved and felt honored/blessed to be called to that service. Retired this Jan 2012. We have 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 2 angels in heaven. Waterloo, Illinois is our home....a quiet German town...complete with a town square....Just across the Mississippi (east) from St Loius, Mo. Hobbies include counted cros stitch, crochetting, "playing in the dirt" .....aka gardening/pulling weeds. Other interests include being active in our parish as well as spending time with friends. MOST IMPORTANT..spending time with Bill and our family!!!! and thanking God for all His gifts and blessings.
