Joanne's Story

Life After high school I worked as stenographer for FBI in Washington DC. Married in '56 and went to work for Air Force at Bolling AFB. Lived in Japan (Yokota AB) with spouse from '58-'62. Returned to US and continued working for Air Force (Andrews AFB). Took the plunge at 36 and went to UMCP - received B.S. in special education/elementary ed K-8 in '75 and M.Ed. in Special Ed from GWU in '78. Worked in elementary, jr. high, middle school and finally Potomac H.S. (PG Co) where I stayed for 17 yrs before retiring in 6/01. Missed it so returned in the retire/rehire program in 1/02. hildren, 16 grandchildren scattered in FL (Merritt Island & Pace), VA (Richmond), MD (Harford Co., Anne Arundel Co., Calvert Co.). I became a rugby addict when oldest son played for TSU in early 90's. Spend most of free time going to grandchildren's sports activities (lacrosse, soccer, basketball, football)or church activities. When not involved with grandchildren above, I enjoy "looking for my roots" through genealogy. [At age 60, while searching in PA, I found out my father was adopted! Quite a shock !! [hen I was a kid I thought I was adopted because I didn't look a lot like the rest of the family.] Now I'm trying to find my true ethnicity. Quite a challenge.
