Jocelyne's Story
After I graduated from Mannheim High School, I met an airman, married, and moved to California. I stayed married to him for 7 years then divorced. We had a son so for the next 17 years I was a single parent. I put myself through college with a BA in Social Work (BSW) then went on to Grad School, USC, and got my masters in Clinical Social Work (MSW). Got licensed, worked in medical and psychiatric hospitals, then went into private practice 1987. My specialty is PTSD/Trauma. I worked with children/teens, adults, and couples/family. I also taught at a University for about 17 years as adjunct faculty.
Shortly after getting my license, I reunited with a friend, Frank, that I had worked with at one of the psych hospitals during graduate school and ended up marrying him in 1989. He is my gift from God and I am blessed to have him as my life partner. We raised my biologic...Expand for more
al granddaughters together due to my son from my first marriage having special needs. My Granddaughters are now 32 (massage therapist) and the 29 yr (Phlebotomist and got married to a marine in 2017). I'm telling them to wait and have children because I don't think I'm ready to be a Great Grandmother yet. Yikes!!!
We moved into our "retirement home" in September 2015 (single story) and we are slowing down a bit so we can travel. My husband retired in November 2016 but I'm still going strong...I love my work and am hoping to continue practicing (very part-time down the road) as long as my mind allows me to. Many mental health professionals practice into their 80's. Hoping I can continue to contribute towards helping others make peace with their past.
Peace and well-being to all of you who read this. Please contact me if we knew each other or not at Mannheim High.
