Jodi's Story

Life Geez, where to begin? I went to Quail Valley Elementary K-5. I was the "shrimp" with big glasses. Yeah, THAT one. Remember? My first day of Kindergarten, I went home and told my dad that my teacher's name was Mrs. Honda. Er, I meant Mrs. Hahn. Oops. From QVE, I went to Quail Valley Jr. High. The summer after seventh grade, my dad "ruined my life" by moving the family to Tulsa, Oklahoma. It turned out not to be so bad. I enjoyed 8th grade at Jenks Jr. High and went on to Jenks High School. Oh boy, I was a Trojan! Ack! By then, it was time to trek back to Texas, where I landed in Clear Lake, outside Houston. Sophomore year at Clear Lake High School led to junior year at Taylor High School in Katy, where I graduated in 1989. I lived at home and commuted to Houston Baptist University until I got married in 1991. After marrying the Grade A, prime hunk (I thought at the time) of Marine meat I'd been dating since high school, I finished school with a B.A. in English and History. My grand plans of becoming an early childhood/elementary school teacher vanished as soon as I had to do my field hours and actually spend time with...Expand for more
the little urchins. Didn't have clue what I was going to do with a degree in English and History, so....I continued going to school! Post-bac studies in anthropology and museum work kept me busy for a while. I was working on the undergrad hours I needed to get started on a Masters in Anthropology, but then reality knocked me upside the head. Duh, I was too much of a family person to ever skip across the globe studying other cultures. The education field was still pulling me in, a rubber band around my waist. I went back to HBU for my secondary certification in English, history, and reading, and the next thing I know, I'm wrangling a bunch of 7th and 8th graders everyday! I love my job. In 1997, I gave birth to the most handsome, intelligent, humorous, entertaining, adorable boy. :-) His dad and I separated before he was born, but I'm still friends with my ex...and even better friends with his wife. Yep. It's true. And my son is still the cookie dough in my fridge. The rest is boring...that week in Jamaica...a run-in with the FBI...and I seem to remember something about a car chase...and Jon Bon Jovi? Just kidding!
