Jodi's Story

I had such wonderful memories of HCS. I think you would have to if you attend a school for 13 years. What I loved and hated the most about school was the fact that I had the same classmates for so long. I had friends that went to 3 year old Pre-K with me, and we were still in the same classes in 10th grade. Of course, it is obvious that if you do something stupid or if they find a weakness about you, you can be tormented for a long time about it. When we all mature, girls earlier than the guys, you become more aware of how others feel. I really appreciated the fact that my friends truly missed me when I moved away at the end of the tenth grade. I missed my friends as well, because we had been together so long it was like leaving family. I had my share of embarassing moments in school. The year that I fell down the high school building stairs three times was no fun. I would have done better to pay attention to the stairs than gab, but I had to prove that gravity worked. I had my shares of crushes and heartbreak in school as well. I wish that we would have had more people in our school and some different faces. Once your a buddy, no one can see you in any other light. We moved away because my mom was getting sicker and we wanted to be near her family after my dad lost his job with FPL. I attended a very small public school for my junior and senior year of high school, where I finally was able to win a class officer position. I graduated eighth in a class of 111 students. I continued to play softball and ranked in state polls for my pitching and batting averages. I loved first base and won the Golden Glove award from my team. I was the Assistant Editor of the yearbook and I won numerous state journalism awards for my television production work. I was on the JVC Universal Studios High School Film Making Contest winning a third place out of thousands of entries. I was also selected as the High School Recipient of the Disney's Dreamers and Doers Award. I represented all the high school students in my county at Disney and was honored in a lunch...Expand for more
eon and medal ceremony. The summer after graduation I worked at a youth camp in the Ocala National Forest. While there, I met the man that would eventually become my husband. We were friends for over a year while we dated other people. Due to changed relationships, we began dating in the summer of 1994. I was accepted to University of Florida and Flagler State but my mom's condition was deteriorating so I wanted to stay close to home. In August 1995, my mom passed away at our home in my arms. If it were not for my future husband being there, I may have fallen into a deep depression. It was really hard to be twenty years old and lose the most important person in the world to you. Due to some uncontrollable family circumstances, Glenn and I moved in together in September of 1995 and were engaged in October 1995. We were married in April 1996 and have been happily together ever since. Once we started to have kids, it became very difficult to provide for our family so we began travelling the country doing work. My husand is an Interventional Tech in the Radiology field. We were fortunate enough to be able to travel with him everywhere. We spent a few months in Alaska, Jacksonville and Orlando. We made it to the beautiful city of Milwaukee Wisconsin and stayed for seven months. Then we spent a short time in Kansas City, Missouri, a very short time. We took an assigment in Helena, Montana in March of 2005 and we have been there ever since. Glenn now works as a full time Cardiace Cath Tech in the hospital there. We have two boys that were born in 1999 and 2002. As of May 2008, my boys are finishing up second grade and kindergarten at Helena Christian School. Yes, I know the irony of my kids attending an HCS 4,800 miles from the one that I attended. Since my kids will be in school full time next year, I am heading back into the working world. I will be interviewing for a teaching position at their school in a few weeks. So, in all reality, I could be teaching at HCS (Helena Christian School) next fall. How funny it is to come full circle in life!
