Jodie's Story
After moving to Banning in 1969 when my father was due to retire from the Marine Corps, I finished my childhood years living on West George St. with three brothers and three sisters. And, looking back, my high school years were everything they were supposed to be!
Since those days it's been a fulfilling journey for me... thus far! I'm blessed to still have all six siblings, but both of my parents have passed on. I currently live in Van Nuys, CA. I have one daughter, Sheila (father-Randy Hirst-BHS Class of '74), who born in 9/76. I also have two grandsons, Jared - 17 years old & Jorden - 10 years old.
After our 20th reunion in 1996, I completely changed job fields from graphic arts and became a State Certified Activities Director working with Senior Citizens! After six years of handling the job like I was 30 (instead of in my 40s!), I injured my neck and shoulder area... so, back to graphics! I now run my own business, JoDzigns.com, from home and am considered a "Visual Communications Artist." ifficult part is the paperwork and billing - that part is not very FUN for me...
I'm enjoying a new chapter in my life, as my long-time guy friend Jean-Jacques Schoch (JJ) and I were married on March 7, 2012. More good news... after 4 years of a continuing decline in health of my lower back - I finally had surgery in Dec. 2012! The constant pain is gone, and mobility is getting better with physical therapy twice a week and aqua therapy once a week. I continue to have high hopes of regaining total abilities :D
I found it very exciting (and exhausting) to be on the '76 30th Reunion Committee and had a great time with those who were also on the committee! We had a wonderful opportunity to create an event that would be as fun and memorable as we possibily could make it. From what we've heard, (nearly) all had a fantastic time either at the dinner/dance or the picnic or both! It was so good to see everyone again - in what little time we had to actually visit!
JJ and I will be attending the all-class reunion in 2014... At least that leaves plenty of time to plan!
So, that's me! Drop me a line if you feel like it - I'd love to hear from you!
With fond memories, Jodie
