Joe's Story
College
WPI was a royal pain in the a$$...it lived up to its reputation as a tough school, but I am glad I went there. While my best friend is still from childhood, the next wave are the guys I went to college with. A little too much partying didn't stop me from graduating on time, although it did take a semester abroad in the UK, 1 summer class, and excessive pleading with 2 professors to please pass me so that I would graduate... :)
Grad school was 4 years of nightmares, during which I bought a house, got married, had a son, and had a 6-months preggo wife when I finished...when it was done, I looked back on it and couldn't believe I found the time to take night classes and do homework...ugh.
Workplace
I started off at Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI and lived on Thames Street in downtown Newport for about 2 years. Near the end...Expand for more
of my tenure there, Raytheon bought Hughes Aircraft in Fullerton, CA (just south of L.A.) and sent me out to SoCal for 7 months, which was a blast...mostly because it was from November to May and I didn't scrape a windshield or shovel a driveway for 1 full winter. Anyway, that little vacation came to an abrupt halt and a reorg back at headquarters had me splitting on my own terms for another career change, so I got a job at ADI, whre I am currently employed. Needless to say, I commuted the 2 hours from Newport for the summer, cuz I wasn't about to give that life up so easily...but when the lease ended after Labor Day of '99, I had to bite the bullet and move up to Boston...lived there for 2 years before deciding that the city life kinda sucked and proceeded to move further and further south to where I am now in East Bridgewater.
