Joe's Story
Here's little bit of a story for those who are interested,
After graduation I started working for New York telephone as a lineman in Nassau County. In June 1969 I married my wife Alice (BHS 66). At the time Alice was going to nursing school in Brooklyn for her BSN and the only way we could marry was for us to live within two blocks of the nursing school, so for two years we lived in Brooklyn New York, which I loved. In 1971 we bought our first home in Ronkonkoma New York. Life was good!
But as everybody knows life has away of throwing you some curveballs. I was offered a job in Seattle WA as a PBX installer for Pacific Northwest Bell. So we sold or little house and move to Seattle where we stayed for 25 years. We have three children who loved growing up in the Northwest. It's a beautiful place but it does rain a lot. It was very lonely being away from everyone but it help focus our attention on things that are important ...Expand for more
in life. I was lucky to secure a management job in 1981. I manage 22 installers in downtown Seattle. I was never much for school work, but loved working with my hands.
In 1988 I received a promotion to a marketing job (sales engineer). Was very surprised that my New York ways and mannerisms and of course my gift of Gabb served me will all those years. I was very lucky to be Part of the Boeing team. We worked closely with Bell Labs to develop high-speed fiber-optic transport and support of CADCAM for Boeing's new plane 777 project
I stayed in a marketing job until I retired in 2005 as a Marketing District Manager.
I thank God everyday for taking a young man who barely got through high school and despised any kind of school work and ending up a successful (I hope) father, husband, grandfather. I have fond memories of the people I met in high school and I loved choir, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and my favorite subject lunch.
