Joe's Story
Life
Have 3 great kids. Dustin by my 1st marriage.Gus & Mackenzie by my third marriage. Been married 22 years this time. We raise cattle. The kids show cattle.Raise a few horses. My wife Toni had a massive stroke in March of 07.She is in Monroe Manor in Jay.We have learned to take one day at a time & thank God for everything that he has given us. Dustin works at JHS. Gus is a Jr. Mackenzie is a Freshman.
School
Went to Jay schools all my life. Had alot of great teachers looking back over the years. Mrs.Haggard in 1st.Thats where Melvin Miller & I got our first swats of hitting each other with our work books.Mrs. Francis in 2nd. Mrs Mount in 3rd. Mrs Morrow & Mr Harp in 6th. d been whipped without rasing his voice.I remember this because we had a sub in his class one day. A group of us talked before class that we would walk out of class when the first bell sounded,instead of the 2nd bell which was really our bell. 1st bell rang , about 3/4 of us headed out the door. The rest were still sitting there. Next day,Mr. Shackelford never raised his voice.But by the time he was done telling us how disappointed he was with us for doing that to the sub.I would have rather had licks. Our class of 71 was a great bunch of people. Pranksters,intellectuals,shy,very forward, we had alittle bit of everything.Would I do it all over again??? Would You??
Workplace
Started working at Shangri-La Resort right after graduation.Left in Jan.2000 to drive for a trucking co.Came back to Shangri-la in 4-03 & have been here ever since.
