Joe's Story
I grew up in Chicago near Montrose and Western Ave. Attended Queen of Angels thru 6th grade and then we moved to Harwood Heights. There I went to St Eugene for two years. High school was challenging for the first two years when I attended Gordon Tech. I had to take three CTA busses each way (Foster, Harlem, Addison). Didn't enjoy going there but the Sock-Hops were great fun (I wonder what ever happened to that cute Italian girl I danced with). Transferred to Ridgewood for Junior and Senior years and graduated in 68. Went to DeVray for 6 months and then Uncle Sam wanted me...Expand for more
really bad and I ended up in the Army. It was actually some of my best years. Joined Special Forces and became a medic (7th Group). I never got deployed to RVN and have mixed feelings about that.. lost some good friends there... Anyway, I got out married and unscathed. Moved back to Chicago area for a few years and worked at the Zion Nuclear Plant for ComEd but was never very happy there. We moved to Montana in 1978 and have enjoyed the "Big Sky" ever since. Memories of my days in school are fading so I hope to connect with a few old acquaintances and share some stories.
