Joe's Story
After High School - 1 year at Weatherford and then January 1967 active duty U.S. Navy. Started riding submarines shortly after that. First sub was USS Lewis and Clark (SSBN 644)(Blue) - missile boat out of Charleston, SC. Then shore duty in Norfolk, Va. - rode some more boats - got married, divorced, remarried and transferred to New Orleans for a few years. Daughter was born in New Orleans - then transferred to Pearl Harbor for some more fun submarine under way time on USS New York City (SSN 696) and some time on the USS Swordfish (SSN 579). re, transferred to Washington, D.C. - lots of fun time. Transferred to Dallas for recruiting duty (July 1985) - just in time for the 20th. Retired from the Navy July 1987. Married Dec 87, divorced again and then married again in 1992. Still married this time around. Had my daughter with me through all of this and she is still here in Texas. I live east of Itasca (50 miles south of here - have a little over 30 acres and lots of fun. I do miss submarine duty. Work downtown Fort Worth managing email systems for a large corporation. 100 miles round trip every day.
