Joe's Story
I always wanted to be a marine when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
My mother was my hero and insperation, she was the music and poetry in my life. My mother believed in me and what I wanted for my self. I miss and love her very much. I was born at 2818 So. nebraska st. Marion, Ind. Moved to Van Buren, Ind. 1943 and attended school there until 1955 and moved back to Marion for my senior year at Marion High School in 1956. where I was trained for radio operator for tactical air support forward Recon helicopter squad, H&S CO. 1st Bat. 7th marines FMF 1st. Mar. Div. expedition Force. I became primary driver for a MARC-38 Radio Jeep to communicate with aircraft, it also was the CO favorite means of transportation. I could fix on AM/FM stations all over the US and that made me popular to the whole company.----to much fun. After the Marines I Traveled around then came home to Indiana and couldn't find anything I wanted to do then I found ROCK-N-ROLL, and started a Band with friends of mine Called the"UNTOUCHABLES" and thats another story for later.
