Joe's Story
Life
After graduating from Ramona, I attended RCC for awhile.
That got pretty boring, so I enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1962.
There I found what I was looking for: travel, adventure, and the chance to learn new skills. In the Marine Corps, I traveled a lot, mostley on ships, helicopters, and C-130's. I had plenty of adventures, and learned how to be a foward observer radio operator in the infantry.
I got back form Viet Nam in one piece in 1966, and was discharged that year. I eventually found my way into law enforcement (more adventures), and worked for the Riverside Sheriffs' Dept until 1984. After that I worked as a non-sworn employee for the San Bernardino Sheriffs' Dept., mostly in Scientific Investig...Expand for more
ations.
In about 1998, I was able to "sortof" retire and have lived at the Beach(Capo) since 2000. I enjoy the beach life, and don't stray too far away form the ocean these days. I paint(mostly watercolors), walk, bike, garden, and go fishing. Watching the sun go down over Dana Point every night is not too bad.
I've been divorced for many years, and have one son who lives in Seattle.
UPDATE: In March 2010, I moved from Dana Point to Modesto, CA. There's no ocean, but there are plenty of things to do, and places to go. Not as crowded as SoCal, and there is still some open space left up here. Lots of places to go fishing. The cost of living is also more affordable for retirees. I think I'll stay for awhile.
