Joe's Story
After graduating from BCHS, I attended Georgia Tech and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following my time at Tech, I worked as an Engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. I retired from GDOT in 2007 and worked part time with a consulting firm (RS&H, Inc.) through the end of 2017. I am now fully retired.
After living in and around Atlanta, we moved to Brevard, NC in 2016. Brevard is a small town in the mountains of western North Carolina. It's about an hours drive from Asheville. After living for over 45 years in the Atlanta area, I was ready to get away from the city. It is a lot less hectic and I love it here.
We have one daughter, Melissa, who is married and lives in Frederick, MD with her husband...Expand for more
Brian, our 6-year old granddaughter Amelia and the recently newborn (November 2023) twins - Oliver and Harper.
My wife retired from her job as a nurse in January 2015. We travel as much as possible and we try to squeeze in some baseball games (major and minor league) during our travels.
One taste that I acquired over the years after leaving south Georgia is a love for ice hockey. I couldn't skate if my life depended on it, but I am a huge Nashville Predators fan. We try to get to Nashville at least once per season to take in a game.
My primary activity is bowling. I currently serve as our league secretary. i stay fairly busy with this as I am responsible for setting teams, arranging for substitute bowlers, and keeping the statistics.
