Walter's Story
Life
15 years ago I never wanted to see snow again. Now, I'd love to be back in the UP. After graduating from MTU in 1991, I joined the Peace Corps and lived in Africa for 2.5 years. I still miss the desert and can't wait to return. The Peace Corps drew me towards anthropology and education. What began as a pursuit for a PhD in Anthropology and a university teaching position has resulted in a career in the pharmaceutical industry in Kansas City. as an archeologist in the UP and northern WI, took care of monkeys in NC for 2 years, and now test new drugs on humans around the world. I'm now engaged to a soon to graduate veterinarian. Jill and I plan to relocate to the East Coast when she graduates. I still love anthropology, especially Egypt and _early_ Native American studies, and Jill loves art history, so we will probably always try to travel overseas when we aren't running around the USA visiting friends and family.
