Joe's Story
"What a long strange trip it's been . . ." since leaving the valley of the deer after graduation to go to Rutgers. Returned briefly for a stint as a reporter with the now defunct Paterson News. Later taught for a while at The Citadel in SC, and eventually settled in MD in 1982 working for the USDA as a scientist.
Currently reside in Berkeley Springs, WV an assignment in Port-au-Prince, Haiti serving as the USDA Attaché at the US Embassy--yes, I was in PaP during the ...Expand for more
Jan. 12, 2010 earthquake there. I love adventure, but that's one I could have done without (missed the one close to my WV home in September 2011--was still in Haiti--that shook the whole east coast). Prior to that, traveled to a couple of dozen countries, while working for the U.S. Agency for International Development. Still have not pushed the retirement button, but Haiti was my last overseas assignment. Will settle in the Poconos (Stroudsburg, PA) after retirement.
