Joey's Story

Life Updated Aug 27, 2007 Hi y'all, thanks for dropping in to see me. Ok so your nosy like every one else. Ya wanna see what 30 or so year would do to me. Well, I'd say I wear em well, wouldn't you agree? The '70's-finished school in '76. Moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in May just after graduation. Dad and I built log cabins and light construction for a year. Joined the Army in '77. Married in '78 to a girl from Kentucky. Had a son in '79, he's my Jr. The '80's-Became single in 1981 and returned to civilian life in '82. remarried in '84 had 2 daughters born in 1986 and '88. Moved from Terrell in '88 to Florida. The '90's-Returned to Grand Prairie in 1992, Bought a house and raised our kids. Worked at DFW at a truck line for many years as an operations manager. Resigned from that in 1999 to get back into construction. The next century - Started off in remodeling and general construction. Became unemployed July '01 and went to work for The Home Depot as a Kitchen Designer. I've worked at the Mansfield, Duncanville and South Arlington stores. Currently at the Lemmon Ave store in Dallas. Who knows where next. Sadily I divorced in 2005 after some 21 years. My son was an EMT in Louisville, Kentucky where he is raising my only grand daughter. My oldest daughter is currently attending NSU in Lousianna studying to be a veternarian. My baby graduated in 2006 from Bowie H.S. in Arlington. one full circle and am back with my high school sweetheart Cheryl, from Rockwall circa 1972-1975, and couldn't be happier. Lookin forward for the next 50 years to the best that this old life can afford. Best friend from my class is Barry Sheffield. We still talk atleast on occasion and have both bought big bikes in 2006. Mine is a 'wing and he just got his Street bob HD. On a sad note. I learned that my dad had passed away in June 2005 this past spring. This was a terribily dark day in mine and my sisters (Lisa Teague-Thornton life. While our dad chose to seperate from his family in July 1986, he never knew what a wonderful son and daughter and extended family he could have been a part of. A grand son that became an EMT, a son-in-law (Jerry Thornton) that has served 2 tours in Iraq and returning in Sept '07 for, hopefully a final tour. A grand daughter that has 2 beautiful sons, another grand daughter thats happily married. another grand daughter that is well in to her higher edecuation to be a veternarian and a true love for animals large and small. A grand son thats an aspiring musician and one still that is in compulsary school. Yes it's sad when a family member turns to alcohol and chooses to ignore a viberant family. I love you dad, inspite of it all. The pictures are from Christmas 1974 and September 2005. The additional pics are of my grand daughter and my son and I. Thanks for stopping by. Drop me a line and tell me about yourself.
