John's Story

I guess I'll start with my music. Many people often ask me why such a wide variety in music. I wish I could say it was for the love of music, but it isn't. Alot of it it is for the stories they tell, Of love, hope, fear, happiness, sadness, joy, hatred, life and death. What I listen to at the moment depends alot on how I feel or what I am doing. Usually I use music to help control my moods. What qualifies a Particular group or Artist if I like them or not? Simple If I have 3 or more songs they have recorded then they qualify to be in my collection. I have tried to learn to play music but I have come to the conclusion that I am not musically gifted. I can say this much, I currently have over 5,000 MP3's in my collection. Some songs have special meaning to me, Like Blue Moon - Roller skating at the rink in Thorton. Hot Legs (Dana?) in Topeka, KS. Rich Girl - Kelly Braden, Topeka High, Behind Blue Eyes - Makes me think about my life. Some may wonder Why I left places so quick. Ayear or two at Caliche, a year at Sterling a year at JJ Pierce a year at Topeka then dropped out. The Answer is really quite simple, LIFE happend, I had a hard life growing up and found it very difficult to not use people for my own selfish ends. I never got along with my family step or otherwise. I finally joined the Army to get away from it all, the drugs, drinking etc. Well I got away from the drugs, but dri...Expand for more
nking never left until '91. Ruined my life pretty much. I was never truly happy, even when I became a soldier which was my life long dream. Doing this cost me a young woman I absolutlely loved at the time. Oh have the years gone by? Was it all the dope in my teen years, or all the alcohol consumption in the Army that makes it so hard to put faces with names. Perhaps it was the constant moving around I did most my life that makes it so hard to remember. Who knows, time marches ever forward and the memories retreat ever so quick. One day I will waken and look at the photos of a life gone by and say hmmm, this was not my life. I wonder who's it was? It is now the end of 2014. My daughter Amy has given my wife and I 4 awesome grand kids. My sons, who are living in Germany still have yet to married and given me grand children. They are 30 and 29 now. Oh well if my family name ends with them perhaps it is fitting. I have lost a lot of family members My Uncle Ortie, Uncle Jack Anderson, Uncle Eddie, My wifes Uncle Leon and a good family friend, My Great Aunt died this year the last of the Boswells older generation, My Aunt Deanna Boswell only 4 years older than myself. It seems I have entered that time in my family when I will go to sleep and never wake again. I am living life, enjoying everyday with my wife, daughter and her family. God bless you all and be safe this news years eve!!!
