John's Story

Got married in 1992... Had two kids (1993, 1994) and divorced in 2003. Ever wonder why divorces are so expensive? Because they are worth it! For work, I had worked for a printing company in Norwood in the IT department, moved on to work for Colgate Palmolive and am now working for IBM Corporation as a Senior Managing Consultant. I am still working for IBM, celebrating my 10th anniversary with them this year. I lived in Massachusetts until 2004, at which time I moved to Maryland (DC area) to pursue a position on a project with the Department of Homeland Security... During this opportunity, I encountered one of the stupidest questions I have ever heard... "Have you ever committed a criminal act that went undetected? If so, what was it?" Contrary to popular belief, there are such things as stupid questions!!!! My position there was short lived as in April, I suffered a nasty injury riding my motorcycle to work. I had shattered two bones in my leg and required 7 hours of reconstructive surgery. Contrary to first impressions, the mishap was not caused by a crash... I'm still not even sure what exactly caused it... probably just stupidity.. If I knew what I did wrong, I wouldn't do it again. (I'm still happily riding.) Regardless I lived in MD all of 2004 and moved back to MA in January of 2005 when we had that crazy storm that dumped all that snow on us in what seemed to be overnight. I then moved back to MD where it was substantially warmer. In October 2005, I made a decision to pursue buying a house again, rather than renting... After searching through Pennsylvania, I finally decided on settling down in Latrobe, PA, an area I was familiar with (My mom had grown up here and my grandmother had lived here until 1998 when she had passed away.) My only living relative here is my aunt/godmother who I just exc...Expand for more
hange cards with on holidays... I rarely see her, so it keeps to my promise to keep some distance from family. There's really nothing wrong with family, but I have learned a lot from Massachusetts and having all my family local. You never can predict what is going to happen when people just show up unexpectedly on your doorstep. Anyways, I have lived here since 2005... They call it a city, but it has all different areas, including city, suburban and rural areas... Latrobe is known for a few things. This is the hometown of golfer Arnold Palmer, who has made numerous contributions to the area (he's got an airport named after him, streets, hospital wings, etc...) and also Fred Rogers (Mr Rogers from Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.) It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. The Pittsburgh Steelers training camp is a few miles from my house. It was nice to arrive here in 2005 and have them win the superbowl. I was pretty frustrated having the Boston teams continually lose. I refused to watch the Red Sox in 2004 when it was evident that they would win the world series. They had let me down too many times. I am currently involved with someone, still haven't decided on whether I want to commit to another marriage yet. I haven't been to any reunions as yet, as anyone who has gone probably knows. In 1984, I had moved with my family out of Rockland to Canton. Other than a few people, I made no major effort to contact or keep in touch with anyone. (Whether this is good or bad, I do not know.) I have been making contact with a few people this year... and hopefully we'll be able to keep in touch. If there's anyone who went to McKinley school with me, I would like to touch base with you. I am currently working on acquiring all my class photos from Elementary school and am trying to put some names to faces. Cheers! John
