I would say that the most meaningful aspects of my life have been my roles of parent, counselor, teacher, and a Buddhist monk. I am fortunate to know the joy of becoming a parent to a couple of amazing daughters. They are a precious gift and have provided me with the opportunity to experience all of the struggles, joy, tears, laughter, and love of parenting. I now have two granddaughters! Having the opportunity to turn my life around at the age of 22 (1984) and become recovering member of AA and NA, I was able to give back by becoming a substance abuse counselor. Believing I could help make a difference in the lives of at-risk youth through education, I later became a high school teacher. For eight years I had the privilege of teaching at Jordan High School in Long Beach, California. It was a great honor and joy.
