John's Story

Life after Marion was and is sometimes a blurr for me. I had a group of friends that we stayed tight for quite some time, but they all seemed to grow up. I never realized that my malcontent was of my own doing. I guess you could say that all I wanted to do was to party my life away to numb the pain. 17 years ago I got married to a crazy xxxx because she was pregnant. I thought I was doing the " right thing", three years later we were divorced. Oh man, Stevie Wonder could have seen that comming. When my son Michael was ...Expand for more
9 years old his Mother dropped him off on my doorstep, said, "Here he is you always wanted to take him from me anyway!" We have'nt seen or heard from her since. It was about that time that I learned that I learned that I am alcholic, everyone else knew, I guess that I was clueless. I thought an alcholic slept under bridges and ate out of garbage cans (which I never did). I never knew what an alcholic was! I never knew that 1 in 5 drinkers is one of us! It's been 8 years that without drink or drug. Now I'm happily married, living in Houston with my wife, our 7 year old son Kyle, and my 17 year old son Michael. I work as a long haul truck driver and I volunteer nearly all my spare time as a Cub Scout Leader and work with substance dependant adults. God is Good!
