John's Story

Wow . . . where to start? After many, many experiments, I accepted the fact that I am a salesman and will always be a salesman. I spent the last 15 years as national sales manager for a Chinese manufacturer of LCD Modules. The main office was in Taipei Taiwan, and we had a factory in Kaohsiung Taiwan, and one in Dong Guan China. I covered South America for a little bit, Europe for 2 years, and ended up with North America as my territory for the last 12 years. I left that position in Dec 06 and opened a modest retail store - The Flip Flop Shop - here in Lake Havasu, Az, where I reside with my wife Shari, Son Nick (14). The Stepdaughter moved out here as well and is married to a very talented tattoo artist who owns Tiger's Eye Tattoo here in Havasu. I love to fish and hunt, water and snow ski, camp, golf, ride quads in the desert, fly radio controlled airplanes (my son is a much better pilot than I) and sit by the fire and sip Jack Daniels! I used to make my living as a salesman/designer of custom woodworking for a company in Santa Ana. I learned a LOT about finish woodworking there. Which brought me to one of my biggest endeavors - building a fishing boat from scratch. I finished it too! And after 15 years I sold it to a young man who loves woodworking and fishing. Which is great because the wood boat I built requires someone who LOVES to work on wooden boats! My son is 14 and in High school. He's a pretty good kid, a typical teenager, but pretty good nonetheless. I love boating. Got a boat here on the lake. Otherwise I'd be living on a boat in a harbor in So Cal someplace. But I'd need to be single to do that. Hmmmmm . . . . I never could get the cat to do dish...Expand for more
es. Been thru several cats. Just never could get one to take to it. So I just let em sleep on me instead. I love to cook & I love to eat. I like taking pictures of family and things and places. I love the outdoors, camping, or just spending the day outdoors. To all of you whom I hurt in the past, I apologize. To all of you that hurt me in the past, I forgive you. To those I have yet to hurt, I really don't mean to, you just took me a little too seriously! (where did that come from?) You know, looking back on some people I have known, I SHOULD have known that Amy Goss would have been a shrink. I mean COME ON now! In the summer between 7th and 8th grade I finally got up the nerve to ask her to "go around" (that's "go steady" for those of you who forgot - or never knew) and she asked me for my "definition of going around"! Ya, like a 13 year old has a definition of the most scary thing he'll ever do in his adolescent life - ask a girl to go steady - like my brain was capable of thinking straight after mustering up the courage to ask her in the first place? My brain was GOOOO! And now I have to make my brain explain my thoughts and expectations on romance? Oh no - it couldn't be a simple thing like "I like you too, let's go steady". NO ma'am. But thank you Amy for scaring the living crap out of a kid. I learned my lesson and I now have a definition, and a reasonable expectation that I am able to eloquently communicate to the person of interest - but I'm married now so it really has no meaning anymore! LOL! (wait, that wasn't funny.) I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can before this life is over. Life is short. Too short. Love to you all, John Butler
