Military
Joined the USAF in Jan 1984 - Entered BMT Mar 26, 1984. DDA to Pope AFB, NC as an Operations Resource Management specialist. Spent the first 1-2 yrs at the Wing Flt Records office, then PCA'd to the 39th Tactical Airlift Sq (Trailblazers). I consider this my first real squadron and I have many happy memories and friends from this time in my life. Deployed to Desert Shield / Desert Storm for 8 months in Aug 1990. Shortly after returning I received orders to RAF Woodbridge, UK. Was there for a few months and the unit moved to RAF Alconbury, UK. Was with the 21st Special Operations Sq (Dustdevils). Many good times with this unit, too. In Sep 1994, I crosstrained to become a Sensor Operator on board AC-130H Spectre Gunships with the 16th Special Operations Sq at Hurlburt Fld, FL. sensor operator in addition to spending just under a year as the course manager at the AFSOC schoolhouse (19th SOS) for sensor operators. Flew some combat missions and made lots of good friends during my stay there. In May 2000, I PCS'd to Lansing, MI as a Recruiter in the 339th Recruiting Sq. Enough said about that... from there I volunteered for and was selected to become a First Sergeant. Attended the First Sgt academy in Oct/Nov 2003 and reported to Vandenberg AFB, CA as a new "Shirt". Was the First Sgt for both the 532d Training Sq and the 381st Training Support Sq and in Jan 05 became the 381st Training Group First Sgt. In September '05 I transferred to the 30th Operations Group (Vandenberg AFB) as the Ops Grp First Sgt.
Retired June 1st, 2006 after 22 years in the USAF. Moved to South Texas with my wife and son to be closer to my first two children.
