John's Story

John was born and raised in and around Rochester, Minnesota. After graduation from John Marshall HS in 1966, he attended the University of Minnesota, Morris, for one year. Perhaps "attended" is too strong a word... "was enrolled at" may be more accurate. After a similarly unproductive year at Rochester Community College, he joined the US Army Security Agency. After about 14 months of language and radio training in El Paso and San Angelo, TX, he spent eighteen months on an all-expenses-paid tour of SE Asia. After separation from the Army in March 1972, he worked at several different jobs while deciding where he wanted his life to go. In June 1974, he met Jeannie, and they would marry a little over a year later on June 7,1975. While continuing to work, John went back to school - this time seriously - going back to Rochester Community College in 1975, and then Winona State University in 1976...John and Jeannie's lives change...Expand for more
d forever with the birth of Jessica Marie in March 1977. This was the first of several truly life-changing and blessed events - which forced some life decisions. John was still several years away from the History/Political Science/Education degrees he needed in order to become a history and/or civics teacher. However, the need to adequately support a young family altered the plan. He enrolled at Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to pursue a vocational degree in Computer Programming. This was a watershed moment. After finishing an intensive six-month series of courses at the top of his class, he became the first graduate of Brown Institute to be hired by IBM-Rochester. This was the beginning of a 30+ year career in IT. that would take the family from Minnesota to Canada, then to Texas, Kansas and Minnesota again before finally settling in Fort Worth, Texas, where Jeannine and John continue to reside. More later.

Welcome to Fellowship UMC in Trophy Club!
So today is the first day of our projected midweek cool down. If I have my arithmetic correct, we have had six days with a high below 100 degrees since June 28. The low among those was 93… Davey Crockett supposedly told h
This is me in June of 1950. My first bike… I still think I have one more bike left in me, but it would seem my spouse is skeptical. Rats.
I so love these cool fall days. Supposed to drop below 90 sometime later tonight.

Congratulations to our incoming SINO (Speaker In Name Only). Real Speakers would roll over looking at this weasel. He’s folded up like a cheap suit to Trump, to the far-right nut jobs, and - I predict - will go down in hist

My grandson, Dillon, portrayed the dastardly Hans in his school play “Frozen Jr” tonight. Even if he wasn’t my grandson, he’d have gotten a rave review from me. His theater teacher does an amazing job putting these things t
