John's Story
Got expelled from the NYC school system in 1976 for throwing a scissor at my math teacher. I was already in the foster care, system so they gave my foster parents one option, HCKS for the remainder of my 4 yr high school graduation. When I originally got placed in early 1976 I went to the cottage Westleague and got burned down but i went awol after 2 weeks there and went back to my hood in queens until i got ratted out by "someone" and i got picked up by the local police and returned to my stepparents. They gave me the one and only option, go back to HCKS,Cottage 7, (where I picked up the nickname Monster), then went to cottage 2, until I graduated in 1980.

h the NYC Dept. of Sanitation, Got an Honorable Discharge in 1987, got accepted into Local Union 3 , the electricians union, as an apprentice in 1987 and got my full book as a Mechanic in 1995. Have been a Union electrician since then to present and also got my EMT certification the same year. Have been an EMT in NYC also for the last 23 years , and currently work both jobs, Electrician full time, EMS part time. to this date.
Life is what you make of it, I've never looked back and said that my years at HCKS were my low point They actually were very instrumental in the path I took later in life.
Can only hope my classmates have done as well I'm sure you have chose the path that has led you to happiness. And that's it...
