John's Story

Hi, everybody! It has been so long and my journey has been such an adventure. So, let me catch you up. I am now living in beautiful Florida and have been for 6 years. Currently going through divorce after 23 years, I am looking forward and moving on with life. We just drifted apart. No blame on either side. I will always love her for the time she spent with me and being the best mom for our child. My son, Jonathan is such a wonderful young man. He is now 16. Very handsome and brilliant, he speaks german and spanish, plays the guitar so beautifully, is taking college courses as a junior and has chosen awesome friends. Jonathan wants to attend "Gator Land" University of Florida and then on to law school. He is my hero. I am teaching math, science, and a social/personal class in a self contained middle school setting. My kids are 6-7-8 ESE with varied exceptionalities, ranging from autistic to severely emotionally disabled. They come to be as a group. What a hoot we have! Never a dull moment in Mr. E's class, I can tell you that. The master of multi-tasking, I am actually able to keep up most of the time:) I am fortunate to be teaching at the top middle school in the county and one of the best in the state of Florida. i will never retire. While growing up, I wanted to become either a police officer or a professional baseball player. Baseball paid for my college and I was able to win at the highest level. I worked as a police officer in Long Beach until I retired in 1986 as a result of 5 officer involved shootings. God, I loved being a steet cop and left with a pretty good reputation among my peers and bosses. (Mike "The BIM" Mais represented th...Expand for more
e City of Long Beach along with my partner and me in federal court involving a wrongful death suit. He was stellar and of course, he won.) I also had the opportunity to work in the entertainment and security/protection world. That time in my life holds many stories of which some I cannot divulge. After 911, I had many opportunities to travel the globe in private jets protecting, but I knew I had little time left with Jonathan before he began his journey in life. Besides living here amongst the diverse population and wildlife, I have lived in a small university village in Ohio (Granville), a home on 7 acres in the Sierras (Bass Lake), and a small house in Sunset Beach, Ca. I begin each day(well almost) very early with a grueling workout. Besides my workouts, I also love to take lengthy bike rides on my mountain bike, sailing with friends, golfing, (walking the course of course) and any excuse to get in, on, or around water. i am now learning all about wines, my new hobby. I will return to cooking when I get my bachelor pad kitchen in order. Laughing and not taking myself too seriously is the way I live my life now. I have witnessed a lot of sadness over the years and choose to live happily and with as much vigor as possible. Life is just too darned short. I have so many things to do and try in the future. And I will. You see, it is not the destination, but the journey. And my journey continues. My photo sailing was taken this Spring Break, 2008, and my police photo was at a shooting scene in Harbor City, 1985, Father's Day. Take care, thanks for stopping by, laugh and smile as much as you can, and contact me if you wish. John
