John's Story
Life;
It is amazing to me how old we have gotten. I have Grandkids in College! I am Retired now and have time to reflect on what I have and have not done in my Life. On a positive note I am still above ground, that's an accomplishment in itself. I have had multiple Careers starting with sacking groceries at Better Foods on South Ave(now Preston) to finally teaching(sort of). I have operated Nuclear Power Plants and traveled the Globe and yet I always seem to end up back where I started.
I Love Texas! When I lived in Virginia I ached to return here for good as this is where my Family is( and my Wife's which helped). As soon as I retired from the Navy we sold our house and moved back. We ha...Expand for more

Life after a Military Career can be difficult ; I was well educated by the Navy in areas related to operating Nuclear Power Plants. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of those in Texas so when I retired I found myself struggling to find my niche in civilian life. I worked at a retail propane outlet, as a recruiter for a temp agency, in the restaurant business and finally in oil and gas (twice) as a Technical instructor. Kind of funny since I wanted to teach when we Graduated.
Life's journey is marked with ups and downs as we all know. Fortunately mine has had more ups than downs and can only hope that trend continues. I hope that each of you have had a good life as well.
