John's Story
Life
Since I was the quiet one in High School, I'll keep my biography short and to the point. First of all, am I the only one here who looks at himself in the mirror and wonders "how in the h-e-l-l did I get to be 40 years old?"
Long story short, I live in Cheshire with my wife and three kids. We have a son who is 6 (Jack) and 22-month old twins (Jonah and Kate).
I work in the Geographic Information Systems field, and right now I have been employed by a shoreline municipality for about 3 years. I got a BA in Geography and a BA in History from CCSU (Dual major = glutton for punishment), and an MA in Geography from UConn/Storrs.
My hobbies are somewhat the same as they were in high school - I still enjoy building military models (airplanes mostly) and reading (time for reading with toddler twins?? HA). I still have season tickets to UConn Men's basketball, and have been a UConn football season ticket holder for 3...Expand for more
years now. UConn is really my passion, both sports and the university in general. I also still follow the Red Sox.
The big difference from High School is that I work out religiously now - cardio and weights - and would like to think that you wouldn't recognize me if you remember the chubby John Hangen. My wife always told me that she knew if I worked out I'd get hooked - and she was right. Right now I'm in training to run 5Ks this coming Spring. I'm really excited, and think that I can do reasonably well (ie. not drop dead).
So what am I leaving out? If anyone has questions/comments/etc just email me! One last thing: In the last 20+ years I've found it so odd that I never run into anyone from FHS-85. Cheshire isn't that far away from Farmington, yet it seems like I may as well be on Mars. Oh well, now I'm rambling (and I'm supposed to be the quiet guy!). Hope all is well with whoever is reading the drivel.
