Arizona, Higher Education:
Why should one attend class? Look in to see if there's a test.
VietNam:
The Commander of the Guard gets to pick his shift. The first is easiest and you get to sleep uninterrupted I awoke atop the bunker to flashes and the sound of flechettes striking perforated steel plate. Inside I was told,"We tried to wake you but just couldn't."
Iowa, Higher Education:
Why should one have to petition to graduate? BA with an excess of 25 semester hours. GI Bill--why work? After enough semester hours you just take comprehensives. Bingo.
Kansas and Washington:
Hard to find work. Counsel other veterans. Then got work building aircraft training simulators and avionics. Married and had children. Existentialism realized. Consulting on Space Station avionics.
Alabama:
Full time on Space Station. In retrospect, this was not a wise decision. Bought a farm to provide se...Expand for more
curity for my kids. They can sell it if they need money. Designed and built a house on the farm. My wife served as general contractor. She may never forgive me.
The rattlesnake could not make itself heard over the sound of the chainsaw. It struck me through my right front pants-pocket. The barbed wire seemed sharp for it's age.
An hour later, my wife called the hospital in Huntsville. "Does he have difficulty breathing? Is there tightness in his chest?" I had no symptoms, but could easily respond to suggestions. The only evidence was a pair of fang-holes that seeped blood and a circular black spot that remained for a week or so. No treatment but a tetanus shot.
My neighbor said' "I thought to tell you you shouldn't be up there. But I figured you knew what you was doin'."
I don't know if my retirement from Space Station was more relief for me or my workmates. It's up there now.
