John's Story

Can't make this interesting but I can make it short. When I was 17 I joined the National Guard so immediately after high school I was sent to basic and AIT. Next year I tried college at NEOA&M. By the end of that year the school and I both decided we had had enough of each other. For some reason I decided I was suited for manual labor and took a job delivering welding supplies. It kept me in great shape. I drank a lot after high school and was well on my way to being an alcoholic when I was introduced to a young lady who six months later was the wife of a reformed person. The reforming was touch and go but forty five years later we're still married. I eventually needed a better paying job (kids coming and all) and I went to work for PSO-- for thirty five years. I was on a crew that overhauled generating station...Expand for more
s. I spent eighteen years doing that and another seventeen restarting a closed generating station. I finally got to use my mind and my hands. I retired a couple of years ago. I have always liked to ride motorcycles. I've had a couple over the years but never rode very far from home. Two years ago my son and some of his friends took me with them to Sturgis. Rode to South Dakota and down through Colorado. It, as the song says, was a very good time. We had three kids (no not goats). The oldest is in Colorado and she is a fitness nut and avid shooter. The middle one is a great guy-remember he took me to Sturgis. He works hard and is the guardian of our granddaughter. Our youngest daughter died two years ago. She was a Tulsa County Deputy Sherriff. That's enough of this boring crap for one day. I'm going for a ride.
