John's Story
4th through 7th grade I attended Joseph Lane in SE Portland, so most of my friends from that time attended Franklin HS. I am curious about what happened to those I left behind, especially those from Mr. Knapp's 7th grade class circa 1964. What ever happened to Lori Smith, Diane Davis, Billy Pimentel, Allen Carey, Mike Downs, Loddy Howard, Rex Goetsch, Steve Smothers, Bonita Frederickson, Claudia Fuller, Sharon Hill, Steve Matthews, Jim Eveland?
We moved at the end of '64 and I attended Lynch Plaza (remember the teen club?), then Centennial HS (1970 grad).
I did a brief stint in the USAF, and then some college (got BS later from Concordia).
I have had many different jobs and a couple of careers including the wholesale glass business, a chain of dry cleaning stores, and electronics distribution. I even did time in corporate America as a VP of sales in information management.
I now own a dot.com selling collectible fiction (books) to a worldwide customer base. Find me at VJBOOKS on the web.
I married my HS girlfriend Chris, and we had one son, Matt,...Expand for more
who is now 39. Matt is married to Kristy and they live in Atlanta. He has given me three beautiful grand-daughters, Chloe (16), Reagan (12), and Piper (10).
A later marriage gave me my daughter, Brittany (27) who, along with our 1 year-old grandson Ryan, is currently staying with us while her husband, Eric is being trained in jet mechanics by the USAF in Texas. Brittany and Ryan will rejoin him in Ft. Worth in March '13. We hope to have them all back here in Oregon next year.
I am married to Virginia Lenneville, who I have been with for nearly 20 years . . . go figure. We have two sons, Mitchell (16) and Evan (13). We live on 5 acres near Tualatin in a home I built a few years ago. We home school, and are loving it.
It shouldn't surprise those who have known me, that my life has been complicated, convoluted, confusing at times, high highs and low lows, exciting . . . but so far no dead ends. Life is meant to be an adventure, or nothing at all.
In the final analysis, my epitaph will read . . .
"His sins were scarlet, but his books were read."
