literature/language--so in 1995 I embarked upon a doctorate in Russian Literature at Columbia's Dept. of Slavic Languages. For the last twelve or so years I've been teaching--both Russian-related and Western Humanities-type courses: as a graduate student (at Columbia from 1997-2003), an adjunct & then full-time replacement (at Drew University in Madison, NJ from 2003-05), and then as a postdoc (again at Columbia from 2006-07). In June of '06 I defended my dissertation on the eighteenth-century Russian Sentimentalists. I then joined Carthage in August of '07.
