John's Story
After graduating from Waupaca High School in 1978, I worked a variety of jobs and eventually went to college. I graduated with degrees in English literature and political science. I went to law school in Washington D.C. for a year and then transferred to UW-Madison Law School where I finished in 1988. I worked for several law firms and eventually became counsel for a large labor union based in Washington D.C. I have been with my wife Antonia, who hails from Mexico, for 12 years. She is a bilingual teacher. I have a stepson Damien who is 15 years old. My daughter Arielle is 7 years old. My daughter Anais Landre was born in December of 2007.
I battled and eventually was cured of mediastinal lymphoma, a blood cancer, in late 2004. My father continues to live on a farm in the Waupaca area. My half-brother Jessie Landre is married and lives in Iola. My half-sister Lacy lives somewhere in the Milwaukee area.
