John's Story

I had already joined the Air Force before I graduated but, I didn't leave for Basisc training until the next fall. The delay was due having to wait for an opening in the Air Inteligence Technical school, Denver Co. After that I was off to Mountain Home AFB Idaho, Home of the F-111. While there we were deployed to the middle east in support of the Iranian hostage rescue. While airborne we found out about the fate of the rescue mission. We were over the mediterranean with no place to land since no country would allow us in for fear of retaliation from Iran. Turkey allowed us to land at Incirlik AB and remain grounded until a NATO exercise started. We returned home during the Mt. St. Hellens eruption, which took the paint off of a few jets that flew thru the ash clouds. From there I went to Lakenheath AB England, Ramstein AB (Sembach) Germany, Mytle Beach AFB (RDF), North Carolina, Nellis AFB Nevada (several times), Mc Dill AFB Florida (the start of spec ops southern command, Nordholtz Naval base Germany, Anderson AFB Guam [some of the best dive sites in the world],(where we watched Philippine President Marcos's fall from power) then to Sac HQ, Offutt AFB Nebraska for several years. While there I transfered to the Civil Engine...Expand for more
ers (Prime Beef)[Rapid Deployment Force] during the invasion of Kuwait, Desert Storm. In 1991 quite a few of us were told we were no longer needed and in 1992 I seperated from the service and went into construction for a while building roads, oil refinery plants and laying communications lines. At this time I got married, raised five step kids and went into Private Corrections as a Security gaurd, Security supervisor, Transportation officer and finally as the Maintenance Supervisor for the facility. The facility is Dickens County Correctional Center(DCCC). We have been through five owners, the currrent which is Civigenics, who's parent company is Community Education Centers (CEC) New Jersy. I have aquired several old Honda Gold Wings which I am Riding and restoring, it always starts with one and snow balls. I bought the first one as a favor to a friend whos husband had passed away. I gave up "Murder cycles" in the 80s and only intended to restore the bike and sell it.....right.... I have been riding every day since for five years now. I am the "OIOB" only idiot on (a) bike, rain or shine, hot or cold, as long as the snows not bad, I don't do Ice. There you have it. I can probably fill in more later. Bye for now, and stay safe.
