Life
Hi Guys,
It's been a long time since I have seen most of you. After graduating at OU in Education I stayed on to get an M.S. in microbiology. Thinking scientific research was the way to go, I went to OSU for my Ph.D. After my Ph.D. in molecular genetics I went to the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD (a suburb of D.C.) for a postdoctoral fellowship. During this time I also got married (no kids though). Research is a thankless, lowpaying job, that requires you to beg the gov't for research funding (i'm sure glad this only took me 6 years to figure out). So I bagged the research career in favor of patent law. Of course, this requires a law degree, so it was back at it for 3.5 years of night school. I went to George Washington in D.C. Take my advice, don't send your kids there! During this time I worked at the US Patent and Trademark Office and then a biotech comp. i...Expand for more
n MD. Law school sucked harder than you can imagine and I found out why most people don't care for lawyers. After graduation I moved to San Diego and worked for french biotech company called Genset. Working at Genset was a dream job. The company's headquarters were in Paris so I got travel to France from time to time. Genset was bought out and we closed both the San Diego and Paris offices. Before leaving Genset I became a Vice President making the job an even bigger dream job. Before leaving San Diego, I also got a divorce and so encountered another setback. I was very fortunate and got another job as Vice President and Chief Patent Counsel at a pharmaceutical company Lexington, MA, just outside of Boston. The weather sucks but the people I work with are the best. I hope you are doing well and happiness has found its way to your doorstep. Take care and I wish you all the very best.
