John R's Story

Life HI ALL!! Time to update, I got out of the Army after 12 years in 2000. I divorced my first wife (Jennie White,class of '91) in 1999 and we have a beautiful daughter, Lauren (now 15). I remarried later in 1999 and am now divorced again(maybe 3rd time is a charm). I moved back home to Denver and am working for Java Cafe as a Manager/Barista. I would look forward to hearing from all of you and hope that you found your dreams and are successful and happy!! :) School Well, for the most part everyone knew me as GI John!! I spent most of highschool in JROTC and loved it! I was also in band, playing the trumpet, and I was on the tennis team. Highschool was pretty average, but it was a blast! I miss it and everyone I knew, Sparky, Rob, Lyman, Billy, Pete, everyone and all the girls on Honor Platoon!! :) Military Went to NMMI right after HS, left after 1st semester, I never was a good student. CO Army Nat'l Guard as a Paratrooper and Food Service Specialist(a greasy spoon!) in the Special Forces Support Unit at CGW, Golden. Reclassed as an Enlisted Military Police officer and ultimately went active duty in 1994. Deployed to Panama, Haiti, Bosnia,Germany and multiple US locations. I was a Traffic Enforcement Officer, Accident Investigator, and Drug/Alcohol enforcement specialist. I got out in 2000(said that up above) and worked in Corrections and DoD Police for awhile. Religion Well, I found my calling, I converted to Roman Catholicism in 2006 and have been practicing my Faith devotedly. I am a parish member of Notre Dame Catholic Church here in Denver and hope to enter into lay faithful ministry. I love to sing(found out I'm not half bad at it either!) and am discerning a call to the Diaconate or other ministries. God has a sense of humor, he called me up to serve in His house, go figure! :)
