John's Story
I grew up in Roxbury, Ct. A Friend of Wykeham Rise I made good friends from summer schools in art and writing in the late 60's. I attended Wooster School class of 1970, and WPI for a bachelors in engineering, 1974. Rowed for Vesper Boat Club, Philadelphia, and for the US in World, Pan Am, and Olympic Games, 1976. Then managed engineering and construction of power plants and played for Boston Rugby Club for several years.
Got married to Barbara, a Historian, and had three really nice kids, off to high school and college now. Joined the Navy in my 30's and 40's, served as Lieutenant Commander in US Naval Construction Battalions (Seabees), staff Civil Engineer Corps officer for Marine Amphibious Task Force on flagship, Commander Sixth Fleet Mediterranean, then as a Contingency Engineer for North Africa for Special Ops, then served in Engineering Directorate US European Command Headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany; got out in 1999 after many years of service.

ction of more power plants in the US and Middle East, then went to work at University of Massachusetts managing design and construction of facilities and a new combined heat and power plant for their flagship campus. Continued rowing at a masters level (for old people) with past National team alums & friends. Recently, went back to school part time and matriculated with a Masters in Public Policy and Administration where I spent time analyzing complex macroeconomic systems in energy and environmental markets.
Now I enjoy playing the bagpipes, being a Freemason and Chairing the Masonic Angel Fund for needy kids, long distance running, and rowing at the Masters level internationally, particularly in open water and open ocean competition. My son Ethan has been maintaining a 4.0 in Classics, while Nat wants to be a mathematician. My daughter wants to be an OBGYN. I think they will all make it. I enjoy fine wine and fine memories with mixed nuts from my past :-) Drop me a line. Cheers!
