John's Story
Life
After high school I served 6 years in the Army and National Guard, then served 12+ years as a firefighter/paramedic in and around Atlanta. For the past eleven years I have been a high-school history and government teacher, currently at North Cobb Christian School in Kennesaw, and have been married to Bonnie (a nurse and semi-professional chef) for 24 years, no kids. At least no *human* kids!
Aside from teaching, I have been writing mostly Civil War and other military history books and magazine articles, including "The Insiders Guide to Atlanta," "The Insiders' Guide to Civil War Sites in the Southern States", "Brave Men in Despe...Expand for more
rate Times", and I was one of 300 "experts" who was invited to contribute to the new (and incredibly expensive) "Encyclopedia of the American Civil War" (I did the Atlanta Campaign section).
Most important of all, I was reborn in Christ in 2002, and feel completely joyful for the first time in my life! Bonnie and I belong to the First Baptist Church of Cumming, where we serve as Bible Fellowship Group teachers. We both belong to the Gideon's ministry, which is simply a joy to work with, and I am also a student at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, answering a call to a pulpit ministry.
Surprising where we all ended up. eh?
