John's Story
Life
How time flies! When I was living in Freer I couldn't wait to leave when I got old enough. Military
The United States Marine Corps had a profound effect on my life that influences me to this very day. Self-discipline was taught in boot-camp and it has stuck with me ever since. Belief in being able to accomplish the seemingly impossible was taught, also. Not to mention how to kill people who irritate you! Seriously, I was blessed to have not been put in a situation where I did not have to kill anyone (I grew up in the Vietnam era). I was fortunate to be able to travel the world---something I cherish to this day. The one draw back though when I look back on the self-discipline and "can do" attitude is I tend to push people out of my life who want to help me---not a good thing.
