John's Story
Life
Just some highlights:
Been married since 1980 and have 4 kids; 3 girls and a boy; the boy is the youngest. We lived in a suburb of Atlanta for 10 years (1998-2009).
I was laid off from a web developer position in January 2003 and was basically out of steady employment until I went back to teaching. Back to being a drama teacher. After three years teaching at the private school my two youngest attended, I taught for a about 1.5 years at a public high school, realized I was right about getting out of public school teaching in the first place (long story).
No jobs were to be had in GA in 2009, so I got a job back in NoVA doing tech writing and training. My wife and I have since relocated to Loudoun County. Never thought we'd be able to afford to live in NoVA again, but we are definitely blessed to be able to do so. The only down side is that 3 of the kids are still in GA and one is in England.
My oldest graduated from GA Tech with a degree in aerospace engineering and received her Masters degree from GT in 2004. Then, she got married to a real nice guy in January, 2005. In the ensuing years she has given us 4 grandchildren. I love being a...Expand for more

Next oldest followed in her father's footsteps by getting her BA in English at a local commuter college, Kennesaw State University which is *very* much like GMU, except they're getting a football team. :-p She married a young man from NoVA and lived close by us until her husband had the opportunity to relocate to the UK for a couple of years for work. We plan to visit soon, of course. A great opportunity, for sure, but they took their son with them. Imagine that. And they have had their second child (another boy) while living over there. Did I mention I love being a grandfather?
Third daughter also got her degree from Kennesaw State University and also followed in her father's footsteps (sorta) by majoring in theatre. She is pursuing a film/screen acting career. Recently she was an extra in the 2nd and upcoming 3rd installment of the "Hunger Games" movies. A small step in her career, but apparently was noticed by the director.
The youngest, our son, also graduated from KSU, with a degree in communications and has found work as a software developer. Go figure. He's married, too, and has two sons. ;)
