John's Story
Out of HS I tried college and decided it was not working for me. Enlisted in USAF and was trained in electronics. Spent almost 3 years in Minot, ND. During that time I became engaged to Betty Moy, a Fenger 69 Alum. We married in 1972. Betty finished her degree at UW, Madison, WI. She joined me after graduation and then we returned to Chicago.
Betty worked for the VA for 10 years and I worked for a couple of large computer firms. Betty then moved to Loyola University Medical Center and became the Director of ReHab Med. tired from Loyola in 2000. I took an early retirement in 2002, but decided to start my own consulting firm in 2004.
We have 2 sons, one born in 1984 and another in 86. They are both great men, one is married and the other is dating. The older graduated from ISU and the other from U of I. They both work for my firm.
Betty now works part-time as a Occupational Therapist, specializing in hand injuries. I am still managing my firm and thinking about retiring again. My hobby is running and I have logged 17 marathons and one ultra. Betty has 5 marathons, but had knee surgery recently, we are hoping that is a short term speed bump.
