John's Story
Life
After High School, I went to California Luthern College on a Football Scholarship. I only stayed at Cal Lutheran 1 year, but I did get Dalton Sowers to join me in Southern California for our Freshman year, and we were roommates. Tricia Blumhardt was also at Cal Lutheran. I missed Betty (Ellis), so I returned to Sacramento in 1970, went to American River J.C., and later took a Commission with the Marine Corps in 1971, Betty and I also married that year. as a Captain in 1976. Betty and I had one daughter, Shayne, who died in 1978, with a Liver problem. We went on and adopted 4 children from Korea, Harry age 31, Sammy, 30, Jackson, 27, and Ronden, named after her uncle's Ronnie, and Denny, 26.
We currently live in Houston, TX, and have lived here 36 years. I retired from the Insurance business, with HM Insurance Company, a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Company in 2015. Betty and I just celebrated our 48th wedding anniversary this August. Life is Good.
