John's Story
Life has been a journey-
Education was first-a degree in pharmacy from the U of Arizona and a degree in secondary education from Cal State Bakersfield-a stint in he army as Medical Service Corp officer, and then the world.
What to do? I really would have enjoyed the artsy side of life-music and plays-but work took over. I owned several pharmacies for about 15 years, married had 3 kids-divorced and remarried. The second marraige is wonderful, and I don't comment on the first or the kids. My wife Olivia and I have dogs. They are wonderful.
I served many volunteer jobs (Chairman of Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetary) was one, served as a city councilman, and am active in Pharmacy Association.
I enjoy playing my vintage Gibson Dove guitar (it's a beauty), and I know many Bob Dylan songs. They are my favorites due to the words. I recently started learning the Simon and Garfunkel songbook.
My wife Olivia and I have traveled a lot. We love the art of Florence, Italy and the beauty of Sicily. Life is still fun and surprising. Our life is fll and we try to give back with time and treasure to others. The last few years have...Expand for more
been stressful though due to the economy, but we are still standing but traveling less.
I was a fortunate person having gone to Bangor High School in Bangor, Maine and to Goose Basy High School in Labrador, Canada. I thank my Dad often for the exposure he gave to all of my brothers and sisters with his military life. Life is still interesting. My wife and I care for our mothers, and I will soon return to the workforce in some mesaningful capacity. Complete retirement is not for me as it is important to give back and help others.
Well, I've returned to the workforce in Southern Arizona as the leader of a call center pharmacy. It's been fun establishing a new pharmacy direction. We lost one of our older dogs last year and immediately adopted two more. Last year was great. We reconnected with many classmates and are planning our 50th reunion. Boy time went fast. With Olivia's blessing, I've added 2 more guitars to the collection. As life moved on the hobbies I've developed are baking, guitar playing, and visitng elderlyretirement communities. I entertain many seniors in care centers every month. It's a way of giving back.
