John's Story

After High School, I attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas on scolarship as an athletic trainer. I got to travel all over the place which was cool. I met my beautiful red headed wife Terisa in '81 & we married in '83.(She was way out of my league. I guess having a personality does work!!) As I write this in 2015, we have been married 32 years. We had 2 red headed boys, Douglas & Bryce. (Since my hair was really red in my younger days, they didn't have a shot. Now for some reason the top of my hair is turning skin color. What's the deal??) We still live in the area in Lake Dallas. I still love my classic rock & love all types of sports. Most of my adult life I had been in sales. We unfortunately lost our oldest son Douglas in 2010 at the age of 24 unexpectedly. I would not trade my life or my life's experiences as I can take or handle anything that comes my way. Remember that joy is an attitude to live despite our circumstances. We attend church in Frisco at Hope Fellowship. Our youngest son Bryce is in Southern California & is a counselor at a drug & alcohol rehab center. I am beyond proud of him helping out others in their desperate need to help ...Expand for more
better themselves. Now the big house is a lot quieter with just the two of us along with our cats & dogs & all of the other varmints in the sticks but there is always something going on. I have not been to any of our class reunions in quite some time but look forward to attending our next one & reconnecting with my classmates. I have learned about pain & it's purpose in my life: "God is not committed to my comfort but is committed to my character." "I need to let God be God in my life & choose to trust him no matter what. I need to put my feelings in their place & choose to believe Gods word instead. Even though I can't see the end of the journey, I need to be willing to take the first step in faith. I will not always like or understand Gods plan but I can trust His heart & know that it is for my own good. So the next time that you have more questions than answers, more fears than faith or more darkness than light, remember the truth that God really is in control no matter what you are facing, Gods got it!" My prayer to each & is that you have been able to handle life's challenges & are at peace with yourself. May God bless each and everyone of you! Take care...

Trying to figure out what’s going on right around the corner from our Lake Dallas home. There were 8 of these big boys. The pic really doesn’t show how big they really are. Couldn’t get them all in the pic. It’s very close
