John's Story
Life
I moved from San Rafael in 73, the summer of my junior year. I landed in Houston Texas and was smacked with culture shock.
I fit in well and had a blast playing Texas football. I met some great people that are still my friends today. After graduation I went to the University of Colorado and renewed friendships with San Rafael buddies Eric S. and Doug B. I had a great five years skiing, and I did get a degree and teaching certificate.
I moved back to Texas and took a teaching and coaching job with Tommy Ward,(my texas coach). As with all Texas high school football coaches, when Tommy was fired so was I...end of Alvin Texas. The best thing that ever happened to me.
I moved to Virginia Beach with my new bride Jill Helfant, (who I met in Boulder) she too was a P....Expand for more
E. teacher. We had our first child Rachel that same year 83.
I got into real estate while I was trying to land a teaching job, and never left.
Rachel graduated from East Carolina University in 04. She is a personal fitness trainer
Our second daughter Joanne was born in 87... she is now a Junior at Virginia Tech. Yes she was there that terrible day of the massacre.
I am still married to the love of my life jill and we are doing great....Aside from getting old and paying college tuition. Drop us a line or come viset we always have an extra beach chair If you do come , bring your own surf board.
End of Feb.09 I will hook up with old Buddies Eric S. and Mike K. for 5 days of skiing at Northstar Tahoe Calif. Should I survive I'll post some photos of three old ski bums.
