David's Story

Life Currently, I've been recalled to active duty in the Army and I'm stationed in Iraq until August of 10. This will be my third year with the UN. The job is interesting, and it's even better to see what is actually happening in the here, now that the media has forgotten the war. I'm still assigned as a military adviser with the UN. Barbara is still stateside taken care of everything. Our middle daughter lives just up the mountain from us and Barbara is enjoying the four granddaughters along with life in the country. Before being recalled, I retired from a South Florida police department and moved to North Carolina. Built our current home and helped to start two local companies. friends, one being Doug Padgett a long time friend from Boone. Living in NC is a dream come true for the family, and having one of our three daughter right up the road, with grandkids, just makes it better. Barbara and I do have one child living at home, that would be Buddy the blond Lab. A 100 pound, four year old puppy, who thinks he's a lap dog. When I complete this tour of duty I'll head back into retirement, just to old for this Army stuff. I'll update this site again in November of 2010. But to all who care, we are winning this war with some of the finest young soldiers, men and women, in the world. However, you wouldn't know it by listening to the media, talking heads and our congressmen and women. So sad.
