John Sollami:

CLASS OF 1965
Floral park, NY

John's Story

After Floral Park, I went to Queens College during the turbulent late 1960s, where various riots and strikes took place. I was more or less a bystander but marched in a number of protests. Vietnam defined my generation and my life choices. I taught in the Lower East Side briefly, but then went into publishing, since literature and learning have always been my great passion. I worked as Senior Managing Editor and then Senior Director at a number of great places such as John Wiley, Macmillan, and Oxford University Press before joining an outsource firm based in India. ia, Japan, and England and lived in Holland and Italy for brief periods of time. I am finally happily married for the past 28 years, with one terrific son who is a manager at WB Mason in Norwalk. We have a lovely home in Stamford, CT. I'm semi-retired now, doing editing for Oxford, which keeps my mind occupied and out of trouble. I've written a lot of poetry and countless unwritten novels. Nice to hear about you all, even though I pretty much hated the all white middle class atmosphere of Floral Park Memorial. We needed some SOUL! All the best to any and all who happen to read this.
