John's Story
Life
After graduation I attended OCC as a general studies major. In 1972 I graduated and attended Potdam State as a biology major. I was a member of Psi Phi Faternity and lived at 15 Bay Street. In 1976 I moved to Rochester, NY and began work for Eastman Kodak Company at the Elmgrove facility. In 1978 I married Anne Gallagher (we met in Potsdam). We bought a house and lived at 803 Ridgeway Ave. In 1982 Bridget was born and in 1983 we built a house in Chili on 49 Stover Road. In 1985 Scott was born. In 1997 I received my BS in Manufacturing Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. I have worked at Kodak for 25 years. My wife Anne teaches at Wilson Magnet High School in the city of Rochester for 22 years. My daughter graduated from Gates Chili HS in the class of 2000 and attends Providence College. Bridget is a Music Ed Major. She plays the flute and piccolo. My son Scott is a juniorin the high school. He is on the volleyball and swim team and plays the alto sax in the band. He is also in the school dramas and musicals. My daughter Bridget will graduate from Providence College in May 04 with a teaching degree in Music. She will then attend graduate school at Syracuse University. My son Scott is a Freshman at Syracuse University in the Inclusive/Elementary teaching program. He is also in the marching and pep band and traveled to Denver/Phoenix with the SU Basketball team in March 04. I have recently graduated from the Advocate Program at Eastman Kodak and represent my organization and company in facilitating a positive and inclusive work environment. In July of 2005 I was caught in a downsizing and left Kodak after 29 1/2 years. During the downsizing I was hired by Harris RF Communications in R...Expand for more
ochester as a Manufacturing Engineer. Harris is the world's leading manufacturer of military radios and accessories. All of the US brances of service and our NATO Allies use our radios. So I took my lump sum pension and my Savings and Investment Plan and started a new job. 2005 turned out to be a very interesting year. My daughter Bridget graduated from Providence College, received her masters in music ed from Nazereth College and is the 4/5 grade band director in one of our districts middle school. Scott is presently a junior at SU.
2009 Update:
I am in my 3rd year at Harris, My wife is in her 30th year at Wilson Magnet High School. My daughter Bridget is a music teacher in the city of Rochester and is engaged to AJ Maio. Their wedding is August 1. AJ is a PE teacher and I am his assistant coach for girls modified lacrosse. They just bought a house near Lake Ontario. Scott graduated from SU in 2007 and is in graduate school at SUNY New Paltz. He is engaged to Amy Pelletier and is going to be married July 17, 2010. This year I reached my 11th year of coaching girls varsity basketball for the CYO. We have had over 60 girls go through the program. My daughter coaches with me now.
College
While at Potsdam I was a member of PSI PHI Fraternity. I lived in the house for one year with my pledge brother and best friend Jim Frame. Through the fraternity I made friends that I still are in touch with 30 years later.
During my Rochester Institute of Technology years I was a full time employee of Kodak and a husband and a father of 2. I enjoyed working with the students on engineering projects especially our senior project. Our senior project was completed and demonstrated to our families and friends on graduation day.
