John's Story

Life After CVS I went to college in Michigan and became a manufacturing engineer in the auto industry; with managerial positions on both the GM and Chrysler corporate staffs at various times. I was married for 25 years, had two daughters, and relocated back to suburban Chicago in 1980 when I became part owner of an international consulting firm. After years of travel I decided to find a job where I was at home more; so for several years I managed an international machine tool manufacturing company near Midway Airport. At the end of my career I went "high tech" with Bell Labs where I managed a prototype hardware development operation. Now I am retired and living in Ocala (north central), Florida. I recently remarried and I'm enjoying lots of activities including a computer club, Lions Club, I write an article for the local newspaper, and am still active in amateur radio. The picture is me, my radio station (with a section of 1961 vintage equipment), and original 1961 vintage (never been colored) hair. lattice enclosure around the Jacuzzi on our patio. We travel/camp as often as we can get away and enjoy entertaining, church, and our kids. I have always been, and continue to be, blessed in many ways. I also have instructor's credentials from the NRA and own a small business teaching firearms training/safety. Keeps my mind and business skills active and hopefully helps people be safer. If I accidentally make a few bucks -- hey -- even better. My daughters are both professionals. One is on the Walgreen's corporate staff married to an attorney with the Cook County legal staff. They live near Sugar Grove; so I get there to visit. The other is a not for profit agency director married to a man who owns a transportation company in southern Texas. Life has been quite a ride for a blue collar boy from the south side! CVS did, indeed, equip us for a decent life. Life is good -- it's been a fun ride so far and I'm anxious to see what's next. My villa has a guest wing -- look me up (I have a published phone number) if you come to the north central Florida area.
